Picking up where it left off last weekend, Stanford’s women’s volleyball team picked up its 11th sweep of the season against the Washington State Cougars in Pullman, WA (25-17, 25-15, 25-21).

The No. 7 Cardinal (13-3, 6-1 Pac-12) never trailed the Cougars (15-5, 2-5) in the match, hitting .282 en route to its fourth win in eight road games this season. Washington State was held to just a .115 hitting percentage by a strong Stanford defense, which had 12 team blocks in the match.

A pair of sophomore outside hitters led the team with kills: Inky Ajanaku had 10 and Jordan Burgess tallied eight of her own. They both also contributed on the defensive front as well, as Ajanaku had a team-high eight blocks and Burgess tied a season-high with three.

Senior outside hitter Carly Wopat hit .500 in the match, with seven kills and four blocks. She now has 999 career kills, with the opportunity to become the 14th player in Stanford history to reach 1,000 kills on Sunday against Washington.

Stanford opened on a 7-2 run and was up by at least five points throughout the first set. The team hit .438 with just one error, with Ajanaku and Burgess each tallying four kills in the set.

In the second set, Washington State was held to a .000 hitting percentage, as they had as many errors—eight—as they did kills. Stanford had two 6-1 runs in the set, as Wopat led the team with four kills and two blocks. To close out the match, the Cardinal outhit the Cougars .200 to .108 in the third set, taking it 25-21.

The Cardinal flies to Seattle to take on the No. 6 Washington Huskies on Sunday night at 4:30 p.m. The match will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
