No. 1 Stanford women’s swimming and diving will host Oregon State on Thursday and No. 13 North Carolina State on Friday this week at Avery Aquatic Center. These back-to-back meets come in the wake of powerful performances by Cardinal swimmers in their season opener and the Pac-12 versus Team USA challenge two weeks ago.
In their first conference meet of the season on Oct. 20, the Cardinal dominated the Utes 143-95, thanks in part to the first collegiate victories of sophomore diver Haley Farnsworth and five freshmen swimmers. Five veteran stars who didn’t travel to Salt Lake City were busy contributing to a 326.5-286.5 victory in the Pac-12 versus Team USA challenge on Oct. 21 and 22 in Los Angeles.
In its first home meet of the season, Stanford will compete against the Beavers, who started their season off with early victories over Willamette University and Southwest Oregon Community College but fell to Pac-12 rivals No. 4 USC and CSU Bakersfield 185-92 and 203-88, respectively.
The teams last faced off in October 2016, when the Cardinal bested the Beavers 141-109 in Corvallis, Oregon.
The following day, Stanford will face North Carolina State, who triumphed over No. 37 Penn State and No. 28 Duke in its season opener and delivered a 202-149 victory over No. 23 Wisconsin last weekend.
Stanford will live-stream the events against Oregon State on Thursday beginning at 2:45 p.m. and against North Carolina State on Friday at 1 p.m. on Pac-12.com
