ASSU Senator Gabriel Knight should immediately resign from the Senate and drop put of the race for next year’s Senate. It is not “politically contentious” to condemn lies about Jews controlling the government and the media, as he claimed it was on Tuesday, April 5 during a Senate debate on anti-semitism. It is, however, condescending and offensive to tell Jews that protecting them from classic anti-semitic conspiracy theories (ones that have been central to the oppression of my family) is just too controversial and too political for the Senate to do. The same body, after all, voted to take a strong stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict just one year ago. So much for avoiding politics.
I stand with the Jewish community at Stanford, which should not have to put up with this type of behavior from its representatives, or from anyone.
