It wasn’t quite the offensive explosion that Stanford fans have become used to, but it was certainly more than enough to get the job done.

No. 10 Stanford (6-1, 5-0 Pac-12) cruised to a 31-14 win over Washington (3-4, 1-3), extending its winning streak to a conference-leading six games. Christian McCaffrey tallied 300 all-purpose yards to go with 2 touchdowns, while Kevin Hogan passed for 290 yards and 2 more touchdowns.

While the Stanford offense was solid, perhaps the biggest story of the night was the dominance of the Stanford defense, especially in the first half. The Cardinal were relentless against backup quarterback KJ Carta-Samuels, who got the start in place of the injured Jake Browning. Stanford held the Huskies offense to just 58 total yards in the first half, and Washington went 0-for-5 on 3rd-down conversions.

As a whole, the Cardinal were in control for the entire game, playing virtually the entire 60 minutes with a lead for 57 of the game’s 60 minutes and winning the time of possession battle 40:05 to 19:55.

Stanford will now head on the road, going up north to Pullman to take on Washington State next Saturday.
