University partners with TurboVote to simplify student voter registration

Sept. 23, 2014, 12:00 p.m.

Today, in honor of National Voter Registration Day, the University announced in a written statement to The Daily a new initiative to make student voting easier. The University is partnering with TurboVote, a nonprofit, nonpartisan project created by Democracy Works that aims to simplify voting by providing a centralized online voter engagement platform.

Students can sign up on stanford.turbovote.org for services that make voting more convenient. These include text message and email reminders about local and national election deadlines, election information and the provision of pre-addressed and pre-stamped envelopes for voter registration, absentee ballots and other forms.

Voter registration at Stanford is currently administered by the Haas Center for Public Service, Residential Education, Office of the Registrar, Student Services, the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and the Vice Provost for Student Affairs, in collaboration with a number of student organizations.
