The Stanford women’s soccer team is just one step away from earning Stanford’s 100th NCAA team championship.

With a 2-0 win over Boston College (17-7-1) in the national semifinals Friday night, the Pac-10 champion Cardinal (23-0-2) will play in its second consecutive title game on Sunday, taking on Notre Dame in Cary, N.C.

After outshooting the Eagles 7-0 in a scoreless first half, junior forward Camille Levin broke through in the 48th minute with an 18-yard blast that beat BC keeper Jillian Mastroianni in the upper right corner. For Levin, who has played numerous positions in her time with the Cardinal, it was her second goal of the season.

Sealing the win in the final stretch, junior forward Lindsay Taylor intercepted an Eagle pass and challenged Mastroianni one-on-one before knocking in the Cardinal’s second goal. With her 11th goal of the season, Taylor moved into second place on the team behind national scoring leader Christen Press, who has 26.

Cardinal keeper Emily Oliver made five saves in the win, earning the 10th shutout of her freshman season.

Advancing with the win, No. 1 Stanford will face fourth-seeded Notre Dame (20-2-2) in the national championship game on Sunday. The match is scheduled for 9 a.m. PST.
